total house refurbishment

Full refurbishment of a 4-bedroom terraced Victorian house. Prior to commencing work, the house was uninhabitable, with no usable kitchen or bathroom, unsafe wiring, no heating and a leaking roof.
The customer wanted a total transformation, whilst retaining original features such as fireplaces, cornices and panelling, to create a modern family home with period features.

The customer’s vision was for an expansive, open-plan living space. To achieve this, we combined four separate spaces: the original kitchen; dining room; an outside toilet and an old coal store, and installed a new steel beam to replace the demolished walls. We also removed the chimney and fireplace.
As the previous rooms were all at different levels, we raised the lower levels to form one single levelled floor.
The finished kitchen is sleek and streamlined, featuring an induction hob with integrated extractor, floating shelves and storage wall with built-in appliances.
stripping it back
We stripped out all of the existing wiring and plumbing, rotten flooring and old fittings, uncovering ancient artefacts such as coin gas meters, vintage cigarettes, servant call bells, and newspapers dating back to the 1930s.
bathroom transformation
After stripping out the bathroom fittings, we knocked through the wall diving the bathroom from the separate wc, to form an enlarged shower room. We replaced the existing window with a modern one, with double glazing and frosted glass.
The transformed space features a large, walk-in shower with a recessed alcove for shower products, beautifully finished with navy diagonal tiling and gold fittings.
